Default Ignition Coil Failure

So ive been trying to find a spark to turn on my stang. its a 68 GTA, and it doesnt send any type of voltage to my coil. I know it maybe the resistance wire that converts teh 12 volts coming out to 6 volts, but that works fine. Does anybody know what might be the problem?

Default RE: Ignition Coil Failure

Is that a "points & condenser" type ignition system?

When the key is in the on position, there should be voltage to the + side of the coil. When the motor turns over the points will open and close and ground the circuit to engerize the coil for HV spark. You can check the resistence of the coil primary with a ohm meter. If you see an open coil circuit it is bad. Hope this helps.
