look a little further down on the spec sheet for duration @.050 = 236/240 this is the numbers normally used when talking about duration. You should be okay on vacuum with that cam. As far as carb, alot of that depends of final HP, you should be able to look at some of the carb websites for a table of hp sizing of carbs.

I am glad you are learning, better to learn the basics. Some never do and just use buzz words and phrases they have heard.

ya, dont want it to run lean. i saw a lot of crate engines that had similar specs to my engine (specifically the performer rpm 350 crate engine) that have an 800 and it says next to the part description that 750s and 800s are suggested. carb calculator says to get a 700 with 100% volumetric efficiency. edelbrock claims about 96-103% (dont remember exactly, but somethin like that) for the performer rpm manifold. i might try to find a 670 holley street avenger carb. that looks like it would work.

First off dude, stay away from that jimmy carter 800 carb, get a holley dbl. pmpr....750 would be fine.
I was running a 750 Edelbrock carb on my 306 for a while, I thought it was too big, but was told that the Edelbrocks run a little small for the cfm rating in the first place, even so, my engine never ran right, not even with 2 different tuning kits.[:'(]

Threw on a 650 dbl. pmpr. and fixed that noise.

Now she runs marathons.

I'm a spelling nut...
