RE: Is Nitrous Legal?
im not an expert on the subject.... but i wouldn't imagine nitrous itself being illegal...
i would probaby be more worried about your actions while using it as being the illegal part...

Having nitrous isn't necessarily illegal, however using it on the street is illegal, even if you aren't speeding or exhibiting acceleration. In some places, it's illegal to have the bottle hooked up..it's just a matter if the cop looks.

if your that concerned about it and you wanna have it ready on the streets just in case look to see if an electric bottle opener makes it legal to have it hooked up. if not i dunno its a chance youll take. cop will have to have a warrant or probable cause to look in your trunk though, and theres not really probable cause to know if someones got spray unless you are a ricer with 10 nos stickers on ur window.

Well, my issue is I have a convertible and id be putting a Nitrous gauge and a knock sensor gauge on the a-piller. So if I get pulled over (which happens pretty often) is it probable cause to search the car if the cop notices the gauges?

As long as your transporting it per DOT regulations and not using it, you should be fine. Comply with the DOT and local regs and you shouldn't have a problem. "Probable cause" can be nearly anything that may show the liklihood of an illegal act, so a nitrous gauge would qualify by some officer's standards, but if you're transporting the bottle in the manner prescribed by law, you'll be ok.
