rear end swap
anybody know if the rear end from a 89 GT will fit into a 98 stock?
ill probably put 3.55s in it... but the stock rear end on the 98 isn't popin with me...
also, did the 89 have disk breaks all around? if not, how hard is it to use the existing disk breaks on the 98 on the 89 rear end?
thanks in advance

Is your '98 a sixer? If so, the brakes won't swap. Dunno about the breaks, though.
The chassis is basically the same, so the rear should be pretty much a bolt in.

it doesnt matter if your car is a v-6 or a v-8. you can use the disk brakes off the 98 and put on the 89 rear. the 89 came with drum brakes. it will be an easy bolt in swap. ford used the same brakes on the 7.5 and the 8.8 the only difference in brakes is that the cobra got larger ones. its common for us fox body guys to use parts from the 94-98 to do a five lug conversion. in 99 they stared using longer axles.
edit: dont forget you will need to put the 98 axles in the 89 housing.
