Where to jack the car up by the body so I can work on suspension?
Hey all,
I just bought a complete air ride technologies kit (Front & Rear) I need to hold the car up so I can drop the Axle in back and decompress the springs up front. And It needs to sit up there for awhile and be fairly High and firm cause im doing a tranny swap also.
Its a vert so the subframe connectors block the normal spot on the K member

I jack the front up under the K member (i think?) and put the jackstands at the very front of each frame rail. The rear i jack up by the pumpkin and put the jackstands at the very rear of the frame rails. very simple and leaves all the suspension free.

jacking the car up at the rear using the pumpkin spot won't mess the seals up or crack anything ? I too need to do some work and need to hoist her *** up an i usually do jack it up at that spot on the fox bodies in the pass but with the newer ones even though my car is a 97 well it scares me been out of the game for a while due to getting disabled and just now can do some lite repairs so i want the safest spot also ..man don't you wish you had a large garage with a hoist hey a man can dream right lol this coming from a man with a family of 8 kids and bikes everywhere and yard junk ,,but love my kids and my wife so compromise i guess sorry for the long line..just dreaming out loud let me know how you end up hoisting her up ..rogerwilco out

I waited till I was 48 to buy a BENDPAK
two post lift ($2300). I wished I would
have bought it 20 years earlier. Would
have saved a lot of knuckles, knees, arms,
neck, shoulders if I had. (at least I didn't die)
When I moved to PA - I took it with me and
installed it in my garage. Now I can work
inside.
I would expect I can sell it for the same price
I paid. So what do you loose.
Major work under a car on jackstands is a
recipe for you know what. Especially with
kids running all over.
Just my 2 cents.

I've never had a problem with jacking it up from the pumpkin, I talked to a few people before i started doing it and they had no problems either but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt it, i really dont know. The back is so light and it's only on there for like 30 seconds i don't see it doing any harm.
Corvette guy, there's nothing wrong with putting a car up on jackstands. They are plenty strong and if you do it right there's no way the car will ever fall off, my car was on jackstands for 5 months last year and it never budged at all, maybe you're doing something wrong.
