I just finished building my 8.8 rear and there is a counter weight that is in front of thr pumpkin and below the drive shaft. Is this needed or am I safe torun without it. ??

It,s there for a reason... I would leave it. I beleive it,s for balance of weight.

It is made to limit vibration. I've ran cars with it and without. If it's a street car thats driven daily I would leave it. If it's track car, take it off, it's about 15lbs.

Its called a dogbone and rip it out. Its supposed to dampen vibrations but ive never heard of anyone having problems after taking it out
