Default Cigarette Lighters

my cigarette lighters in my 96gt dont work at all. both of them. what do i need to check?

are you sure they don't work? pull them out and check the wired with a multimeter. if the wire is hot then just go to walmart and get a new cigarette lighter. if there's no voltage on the wires i would trace them and check for shorts somewhere

he is saying that he is trying to plug an adaptor into it, which it will not power, so apparently it is not hot, he isn't even using the cig. lighter

i know. but the contacts could be corroded. i had the problem. so i grabbed a new one and it worked fine. just because you plug something into it and it doesn't turn on doesn't mean the wires don't have any electricity flowing to them.
