Default G-Tech Pro meter

Hey, first of all, I was wondering if anyone has this.

I want to know if it's a good thing to have, or a waste of money. Also, if it's good, where can I get one cheap?

Secondly, I want to know if anyone knows what the heck is wrong with my cigarette lighter plug thing. I don't smoke, but this G-Tech Pro device needs to use it. I think it got shorted out because when I bought the car, I found that a penny had dropped into it.

The thing is, it shares the same fuse as the horn and one other thing, I believe, and I remember looking at the fuse, and my horn works, I've looked and it appears it's not the fuse. Any other way of testing the plug out other than pushing in the cigarette lighter and seeing if it get's hot? Because mine doesn't, maybe it's the actually lighter part that's broken?? Who knows.

Oh, also, is there a difference between the G-Tech Pro Competition or the G-Tech Pro? Because I can get a G-Tech Pro for $30 but the cheapest for the Competition version with the fancy screen is $150. Is there any difference other than the screen? If the cheaper one is just as accurate, then hell, who needs the expensive one?

I have one and it is only accurate when used following the instructions. For example, using the horse power option. It measures horse power based on G forces from acceleration from a dead stop. Now it will measure "instant" horse power by this I mean if you slow down and accelerate again it will be a much higher reading than from a dead stop. I tested mine in my dad's 1970 GTO, from a dead stop and through the gears highest HP was 347. On the return ride I turned into the developement he lives in and punched it slightly and got a reading of 452 hp. Its not that it required 452 hp for the turn, its that there were more G forces involved what with the slight negative G reading from downshifting to the positive G from accelerating gave me a differential reading of 100+ hp. So now that I am rambling, just follow the instructions and you will be fine and accurate. Tested it on a friends car that regularly races at the track it was within .3 tenths. As far as the difference between the pro and comp version, the comp has a digital display and has more functions as well, it can datalog and download to PC.

Yes your lighter probably is bad and needs to be replaced, probably killed the heating element with the penny.

Well, you can get the Pro version for like $40, the Pro Competition is the one I saw for $150. Basically it's on ebay though, so i'm not sure how much I'll trust that unless the seller has really good ratings...

Lol, do you know why? That little flat area in front of the cigarette lighter is a very ideal place to keep your change. I know I did it, but that was after I already found that it was bad and had a penny already jammed in there, but I also found that it was a pretty good place to throw extra change I had, lol.

I got that penny unjammed afterward and tried to keep from using that place to store my change since then though, lol.
