I have a1997 gt and im going to a swap meet april 2 and im wondering what gears are in my car ?So I can upgrade to a higher gear. need to know what gears are in mine and what size rear end?It has a auto over drive trans and my last question is what is a good gear? Aint worried about gas milage but I do some highway driving.

 

pretty sure you've got 3.27's, either way a good gear for you would be 4.10's unless you dont like revving @ 3k on the interstate then 3.73's

personally I say be a man and get 4.10's all the cool kids are doin it

 

Umm... I could be wrong, but in an auto 97 I would think that he has 2.73's or 3.08's. Also, even with 4.30's I'm not a 3k even at 80mph.

I would also say 4.10's though.

 

look for the small metal tag on the rear end somewhere at one of the bolts, this tag will tell you what gears you had from the factory.
