I put a Hypertech chip on my '88 and liked the results just fine. the stock factory programming in the ECU leaves a lot of performance on the table since they are more concerned with passing emission and fuel mileage, so a chip can get back some of that performance for you. I recommend you get one for yours too.

I'd go with roundman's suggestion, but if you want something that might be a little better, look into superchips. As far as I know, they are the best, and you can program them...if you buy the programmer.

If you are starting out modding, I don't konw if a chip would be the best to start with, you might want to also get some of the other basics with the chip, ie. intake/exhaust. That would probably help the chip out alot.
