I was just wondering why everyone seems to bash Flowmaster mufflers? I just bought a 96 gt and it came with x pipe and magnaflow mufflers, It was not really that loud and it just was not impressive to me so I put Single stage flowmasters im guess series 10 unless they come in other series and put the stock cats on it and it actually sounds alot better. It seems to be as loud or louder but with a better tone. Do flowmasters really cost horsepower because I havent noticed any loss. Seems like torque is better. Anyways I guess I was just trying to find out what the deal is with flowmasters. I have no drone at all with these either.

 

i like my flows and o/r h combo. sounds mean and throaty.

i guess they get a bad rap because they tend to rust out faster (still not that fast though)and arn't as "pretty".

 

People tend to bash Flowmasters because they are more common and aren't over priced like a lot of other exhaust systems...


I used to run a Flowmaster setup and it sounded awesome.

 

Ohh ok, I see. Well I have the magnaflows in my garage and they are not that pretty after use either haha. I live in Georgia so I guess rust isnt really an issue for me. I thought about a o/r h pipe but with the single chambers I think it may be way to loud. I dont want cops pulling me over everytime I take off from a stop light

 

I've heard rumors that they don't allow "adequate backpressure" but that's complete bull****
