Default 351

I'm a member of MM and I told them my plan and basicly they were all d***s about it so I fgured I would try here to find any suggestions.
I'm going to put a 351 into my 2003 V6 Mustang.

I'm currently looking of a 351 Windsor block, 74 or older if possible because they are stronger. If I can't find one, I'll get one a little newer though.
My dad already has a Victor Jr. Intake I can use on it.
This will be a carb engine and I think I want a Mighy Demon 750 carb, but I might end up going with a Holley.
I hav no idea what heads to use and I have yet to get any suggestions on the matter.(suggest some ood heads please lol)
I know I want to bore it over .03 or .04.
I know I want a really agressive cam, but brand I am undecided . I do like CompCams though.
No clue about what pistons, beams, or crank I wan to use.
I was getting ready to buy an 8.8" rear end, but I might end up putting in a 9" because my dad has a bunch of them he sells.
Eventually I will get a TKO tranny, but I will probaly try the engine with my T5 until it breaks to try and save some money.
MSD for igntion all the way.
I'm undecided about which long tube headers I want, but I've been looking at Hooker.
I want to keep power steering.
I'm undecided about whether I'm going to keep ac or not.
Course I'll need new motor mounts.
I have no clue what brand of Under Drive Pulleys are good for a 351.
Electric Water Pump.
Clutch and flywheel.

That about covers it. There are a few little ing I didn't cover, liek porting the intake and heads but you have the general idea.
Does anyone have any postive adivce or suggestions?
I hope to have it done before the summer is over. I could have it done sooner if I had all the money right now, but of course who does lol.

It doesn't need to be a 74-older block. A later model block already has roller cam provision as well. Vic Jr + 750cfm will work with a larger cam+gear, but may not necessarily be streetable, depending on your definition of streetable. For heads, I'd use Edelbrock's new Pro Port CNC 190 heads. As far as pistons etc, forged, high quality and the lighter the better, Mahle, Diamond etc. Rods will depend on the kind of power you want, I beams may do what you need, but a light weight H beam is a good choice for large power that sees r's regularly. You don't need to bore .030 or .040 unless you have to so you can clean up the cylinder walls. Boring does almost nothing to add power, the few inches gained is hardly worth counting. Aggressive cam depends on what you mean by aggressive and how much drivability you want. A good custom grind hyd roller with a decent compression 351 and good heads like those Pro Ports can make 500hp n/a on pump fuel, if you know what you're doing. Don't get a cam just for the sound, you'll end up with something that drives worse than you want in all liklihood. As far as headers and which accessories to keep, I dunno what to tell you, you're putting an engine in a car that it wasn't really designed for, so some things may fit and others may not.

I live in Tennesse so streetable is what you want it to be here lol. I would say this will just be more of a drag/show car and maybe a weekend cruiser.
I know it has the roller cam provision, but my dad just says he likes the 74 and older better because they are stronger...idk lol.
I would say whatever block I get will need to be cleaned up, so I figured I would bore it out some to get a little extra power. Do you think I should bore it out more than that while I'm at it? I do want the cam to souund good, but I care more about the wya it performs. I'm going to try and get a prettty high compression and shoot for close to 500HP. I'll probaly put a 100-150 shot of nitrous on there too because we hva a spare kit at the house.

Some of the older blocks are cast a tad thicker in some spots and have higher nickel contents, but not enough to make that much of a difference. Boring won't really add power, just bore it enough to clean the cylinder if it needs it, the less you bore, the more rebuilds you can get out of it. If it's gonna be a weekend car/drag car, then drivability isn't as much of an issue, so a large cam will be fine. It may not have much low rpm power, but once you get the r's up it'll scream. Give it a lot of gear, since mileage won't be a concern. A large cammed/headed 351 can make a ton of power, and a 150 shot on top would make for several tons.

You don't mean to say you're gonna connect this badass 351 to the stock V6 5-speed do you?

lol yea until it breaks lmao. If I don't I'm going to have a badass 351 sitting in my engine bay ready to go except for a tranny. It would only be temporary tunil I got enough money for the TKO. If nothing else it can be used to break the engine in since I cant run it hard until it's broken in.....

What should I do about a rear end? I can get an 8.8" 28 spline and it will hold, butif I use slicks(which I might need ) it will snap it. I could get an 8.8" 31 spline, but for how much it cost I could to a 9" for the same if not less.

Also I found a complete 1979 351w engine. He said it was good when he bought it, but he doesn't know noe. It's only $100 for the complete engine. I'm sure most of it is junk, but I mainly just want the block. It couldn't hurt to have extra parts though. Think I should get it?

If the block is good usable, might as well. And to break a modern engine in you need to jump on the throttle right away, builds dynamic ring tension to seat the rings before the crosshatch wears off. The stock 5spd will break in short order if you launch on slicks. It'll last on the street, but if you drive hard, don't expect it to last too long.

The more you bore the engine the weaker it becomes so i wouldnt want to do it too much, id think about a strocker kit tho a 408 or 427(i think thats the number dont know if the top of my head). As for headsi havent heard much bad reviews about afr , except for the valve springs need upgraded for high revs. you probably already now this but just incase you didnt there is a 351 section on this site which would be a very use full spot for research
