5.0 into a pinto...
Ok I know its not a mustang, but it was my first car its a 77 pinto wagon. My question is what all would be required to drop a 302 in. any major modding or cutting or would it be a fairly easy thing to do. I figured it could be a decent sleeper something to play with on the weekends. and you don't see very many pintos fixed up thats not on a drag stripHeres a Pic incase you wanna see what it looks like. Thanks for any help

I remember seeing a 427 droped into a pinto several years ago in a mag. Think it was in Fast fords and mustangs. It bearly fit in it and it was mean lol. Think it was in the Mid 90's I saw it in.

It's a bolt in, ford version of the V-8 vega. I friend runs one in Denver.

man thats Cool I had two v8 pintos when I was younger like 18-21 one had a hooker install kit the other I bought done. I dont remember much on what it took to put them in I paid a guy to do one for me. But there was not much cutting at all. remember the Mustang ll was just a warmed over Pinto.

Lots of these around when I was a kid, V-8 in Pintos pretty much a breeze, just remember the
mutang II's of 74-78 were built on the same platform so a lot of the things you need will interchange from them, and I still see some of them setting around. If memory serves me correctly you'll need a set of motor frame mounts from a mustang II (e-bay man!) and a radiator, and a transmission crossmember and mount. I think your going to find most of these
things really easy to get. I did one these when I was a kid and did it the cheap way and made all the parts but the way I described earlier is pretty much a bolt-in. Good Luck!

If you can buy a fox body really cheap that will be o.k. but if not I'd just look for a complete
early model junker like an old '60s model (68-69-70) good compression, carburated, easy to work on. The only thing of use to you out of fox body will be the engine and trans., the rear is of no use because your car is a leaf spring car not coil and trailing arm. If you want a good rear this is tough to find maybe but a '55-'56 fairlane rear is about the right length for what your doing it might be a little wide I think they are 561/2" drum to drum. my fist donor car was a '66 Galaxie something like that would give youmost likely a 289 and a C-4, probably a cheap solid start, stay after it man you'll have alot of fun. Good Luck!
