My friend is looking at a 89 mustang lx 5.0 25th anniversary 3.73 gears, x pipe, tremec 5 speed, spin tech mufflers, BBK headers. What I would like to know is about what this would run in the 1/4.

Yah, the tranny wouldn't really help in performance, it's mainly good for modded engines so it can take more power. Also, an upgraded exhaust without an upgraded intake wouldn't really make a whole lot of difference, other than the sound.
The gears definitely help though.
