I have a 97 gt 4.6. Its got a few problems and Im trying to get them sorted out. I thought maybe you guys have seen some of these problems before...

1. When taking off in 1st gear theres a strange popping noise comming from under the dash. What could this be?

2. The shifter is definitely not stock... very short throw, but it it also very stiff. Is this normal with a short shifter?

3. The clutch lets out right at the floor. Is this adjustable or do I need a new clutch?

4. The e-brake is very hard to pull up and doent really do anything. Whats the deal here?

5. When you floor it or its lugging down in a high gear it makes a funny noise from under the hood. Sounds like the engines gargling or something. Any idea what this could be? I have had a few people tell me it sounds like motor mounts bad.

6. And finally, after shutting the car off it steams out the exhaust for a few minutes. Someone told me this is normal with no cats. Is that right?
