Default Engine Swap 3.8- 5.0

I have a question for all the good mechanis out there.. I am going to switch out my v-6 engine for a 5.0. Only problem I have is that I'm not sure if I have to switch out the wiring harness because its a 96' mustang and the engine is out of a 92'. The 96' has OBD2 the 92' has ? whatshould I do?

You will have to change the wiring harnes. Think you might beable to get away with getting a 94/94 5.0 harness. You will also need to get a 94/95 computer. Not sure if you will have to change the harness on the interior side, but dont think you wil have to. Best bet is to get that stuff frrom a junk yard. You will also have to change the springs from what I under stand in that kind of conversion, cause of the extra weight. Reason for the computer and wiring harness change is the 96's never came with 5.0 They had 4.6 motors with extra sensors. It be easier to change from a 3.8 to a 4.6 in your deal.

Any reason you are wanting to do the swap? It is going to be more expensive than you expect.

Not really its just that i want to get rid of my car and i think that with a V-8 it will sell better and faster.

You will make no money that way. Even if you can do all of the work yourself you will still not make money. People might want a V8 powered Mustang but they generally want a V8 not a V6 conversion.

Unless you're doing this to drive/enjoy it yourself, don't take on the headache/heartache. I've done these swaps a few times ... if it was easy, everyone would be doing it.

So do you suggest converting it into a 4.6? Or is that still to much work/MONEY?

The 4.6L swap into the 96 is easier than doing a 5.0L but still not easy or cheap. It will take just as much money and time. lol I would advise building up the 6 or just selling it and getting a GT or whatever you want.
