Default header install question

so i have a set of shorty headers i want put on.... the only place in and around where i live (cincyoh)that will install them charges 75 an hour to install anything (it's also a dyno shop)..... so i'm going to have them put them on and then dyno tune it for me.... my question is how long should a respectable shop take to install a set of them?

thanks keith

According to AllData, a labor rate guide shops use, replace the exhaust manifolds on both sides takes approx 2 1/2 hrs. I know you are referring to headers, but when it comes to swapping them out, it wont make any difference. So, 2.5 X 75 = $187.50 +tax and whatever other work they will do.

Don't bet on that figure.
It's been well documented that it takes an experienced mechanic about SIX hours to install headers on a Mustang.
It took three experienced Ford mechanics six hours to install the Bassani headers on my 04.They didn't fool around either.
I was only charged for two of the guy's time so I didn't complain.

lol if you can find a place to install headers for 175 go for it. 6-8 hours is the general time it takes most people. people who have all the tools out, have done the install many times, etc... can bust them out in less time but someone at a shop getting paid by the hour isnt gonna be working that fast.

the average install for headers is about 5-600$ i think. try to get an estimated time and/or a guarantee on a max price or something. people getting paid by the hour LOVE to take their time.
