Default Questions...

I never owned any mustang.Just japanese cars, but i really want a foxbody 5.0 for some reason.I was wondering if the 5.0 was a really reliable engine? and what year would be best to get? carb/EFI?LX/GT? I live in So.cal btw. So we have ****ty CARB laws here, so no mods that would be a pain in the *** to swap in/out when comes REF/SMOG time.

Oh yea the 5.0 is a very reliable proven engine! Thing is though they're getting older each year and you want to find a Fox Mustang that hasn't been beaten up or abused.

Personally I'd recomment 1987-and-up Fox bodies because they are fuel injected using MAF (mass air flow) sensors not speed density.

And personally I would pick a fuel injected engine rather than carb. A properly running FI engine is usually more efficinent tnan it's car equivalent. Kinda depends on what you want to do with the car though.. are you gonna keep it mostly stock?

Yes, they're pretty reliable for their age. But it also depends majorly on how the previous driver treated the car.

I'd go with any 5.0 AFTER 88. (89-95)

I've never been a big fan of push rod technology.
