Default New Mustang?

Hey, I have never owned a Ford before and I am a bit skeptical but I really like the Mustang. Particularly the Fox ones. Anyway..
Since you guys probably know more about 'stangs than me, would you buy this car? I only have $8,000. I plan on going N/A as a D/D. I dont like power adders.
I have heard that the 5.0's are fairly slow, which surprised me. Is this true?

Price $2000
1984 Ford Mustang GT
302 with 351 windsor heads, 4 speed standard. new clutch, clutch cable, alternator, starter, exhaust, 650 double pump carb. It does need a couple new shocks and a windsheild as there is a crack in it. 170,000km.

And there is another one, but he didnt have a picture...

1986 Ford Mustang GT, black, t-tops, 131,000 kms, 5.0 HO fuel injected, 5spd, red interior, 2 1/2 inch x-pipe, needs cat back exhaust, needs rear end work, has rust and original tires. Taking Offers

How much is this car worth do you think?

And lastly..

Price $1500
Ford Mustang LX 2.3L
Its a red 4 cylinder, 5 speed it has no rust and has 215 000 kms. It comes with summer and winter rims and tires. It has newer speakers in front and back. New headlights and dynomax exaust and wired for subs.

So what do you guys think? I can probably talk the LX down a bit since it has high mileage. I am more worried about body work because I cant fix body work. I can always swap motors. Any thoughts at all?

if you want a nice daily driver and have $8g i'd go with a 94/95, same great engine but a lot nicer interior, ride, handling, and overall feel to them. 5.0s are not fast stock but have loads of potential and can be made very stout for relatively cheap.

For 8k I would get a newer one.
The best looking car out of the bunch is the 2.3 but they are really slow; If you could talk him down to about 900 the 4 banger would be a good buy and good project for a 5.0/2.3t swap
I would get the 84 if you could get him down to around 1000, it just needs a few things but it's mpg will suck with no overdrive

Alright, if I were to be looking for a 94/95 stang, what should I look out for? Anything in perticular? Also, what are some common mods people do to their Mustangs? I know that civics are very interchangeable and can accept most of all their brother's and sister's engines and trannys.

yea either go with the 94-95 or find a clean fox. if you like the fox then get a fox. i didnt use to like the fox mustangs but after i got one i really changed my mind. other than the common problems with these cars they are really nice. but for 8k you could even get a 99+ style. they are more expensive to mod but i really liked my 01. aronnd here ive seen 99+ gts with less then 75k milies going for 5500! if i had that kind of money right now id own another one.

Common mods?

4.10 gears won't actually increase horsepower, but it will wake your car up ALOT. With those gears, you'll need some sticky tires. Longtube headers. O/R H pipe. Good catback. CAI.
