So which would get me a better car? Buying a Fox style mustang for cheap and putting ~4-5 grand into it OR buying a mid 90s Cobra and modding it with whatever money I have left.. if there is any.. haha.

If i was in your situation i would be looking for a stang in the best running condition or non running condition with a perfect body and interior if you have space at your home.
Alot of my friends have gone "cheap" to get a car they wanted. They have spent the cost of the car+ to keep it running and all have soldtheir carsbecause of the problems, just athoughts. My stang is a salvage but its fine, the previous owner fixed everything, and got it at a good price too.
