clutch break in?
i just put a new clutch on my 99 mustang. Is there a certain way i should break it in? I heard i should wait til 500 miles to beat on it. What exactly is considered "beating on it"? If my shifts are smooth and easy can i still accelerate hard while IN gear? I just wanna get a feel for what i should do and what i shouldnt. I dont wanna screw this clutch up it was a pain in the a$$ to put in. thanks for any help.
are u serious or being sarcastic? This is my first mustang. I know a pretty good amount of info when it comes to dirtbikes ( i race mx) but cars are a whole new story. its a ford king cobra clutch. I also put on an adjustable beefier cable the guy at SK speed said i needed. can anyone give me some suggestions or opinions please.
After the first coupla take offs it's broken in.....what ^^ said wasn't a joke. If you beat on a clutch too hard you can glaze it, burn it etc at any time....doesn't have to do with a break in period.

also, there is this chirpy/squeaky noise that you mainly hear as the revs get louder...especially during decelleration. Its hard to pinpoint where its coming from. I thought it mighta been coming from teh alternator, but my friend thinks it might just be from the throwout bearing breaking in or something. Any ideas?
If it goes away when you rest your foot on the clutch pedal...it is related to the clutch internal components. My guess would be the throwout bearing. I posted about this maybe a month ago and found out it is a common problem with Mustangs. I had the problem under the 3/36 warrantee and the dealership replaced the clutch only for it to come back about 20K miles later. When I rebuilt the trans with well over 100,000 miles I replaced the clutch components again and the noise stopped....for about 15K miles...now it is starting to return.
