Default buying a GT

hope this is in the right section.

anyway, im a jeep guy but have been thinking of buying an 04 mustang gt as it will be much better on my 2 hour highway trips to NC. also hoping it will get better gas mileage than my jeep with 33's. obviously the GT will still drink some gas but maybe not as much as my heavy jeep on 33's...so anybody here that has owned a wrangler? and now a mustang?

what do you like better? do you think i will regret my purchase (what a question on a mustang forum )...and what kind of gas mileage are yall getting? 17+ average? the jeep is taking all my money at the gas station and i can't see myself driving an STI...

TIA

Wife has a jeep...and yeah they suck gas..even without big tires. If your ready to give up 4 wheelin' then i say go for it. The mustang will get you 21 - 25 as long as you dont always have your foot into it. I personally hate the jeep on the road compared to the mustang.

i think i could deal without fourwheelin. i love it but there is always racing and thats just as good. although i think i may have a problem keeping my foot out of the gas if i get a GT...but it seems more practical right now.

Welcome to MF

I had a '93 Jeep Wrangler Renegade with 32's & yup that pig INHALED gas [:@]I drive about 100km round trip to work & was pumping in about $50 in gas every 3-4 days! I loved it but had to sell it just because of the lousy fuel economy.. the Jeep was only giving me about 19mpg.

Soo,, just like you I decided to dump it fora Mustang lol I had 3 before the Jeep & really liked them so, bought an '02 GTvert. Sounds kinda dumb to be saying I bought a V8 GT for fuel ecomomy lol but yea this car gets me nearly 10mpg better than the Jeep. Sure I coulda (shoulda?) bought something like a Civic instead but, hey I'm not dead yet & not done enjoying driving. And the vert is NICE to have, just like the Jeep the top comes off, but a LOT easier to do

I miss the high seating position of a Jeep/SUV but am adapting lol

yeah well i got the mustang today. i love it. btw, i was getting NO WHERE near 19mpg in my jeep...waaay less. so this is a big improvement. the stock exhaust on the mustang gt sounds quite good and roars nicely at 3,000 or more rpm's.very quick too.as for price, they were asking 15,900 but they dropped a thousand so i got it for 14,900.

ouch. low miles but almost 15 grand? you could have gotten a mach1 with not many more miles for 15g's.
