How do I fix bent seats?
Hello everyone, I've got an '89 LX 5.0 5 spd, with some mods, and many more coming. But this question relates to the used '93 Cobra Black seats I just bought. The front seats are both leaning to the outside, from people leaning on the side when they get out. How can I get the seats back straight again? Should I just get the sledge out and start hitting, or is there a friendlier way? Thanks, Ken
my stangs drivers seat was the same way when i bought it. my kid tried to bend it back to the right. (extreme body force) and broke it completely. it sux. Dave said he was going to take it out and slap a weld to it but he never did so now i just deal with it.
good luck.
good luck.
none of those is a true fix just a band aid. you need to go to the junk yard and get a good upper frame and transplant it. i did this and my seat is fine. take the cloth and guts off yours to see the damage its probably broke not bent and the metal is so thin a weld would not last long and you'll never bend it perfectly to were it looked right.also do the same to the donor seat before you buy it cause sometomes they are cracked but don't lean yet i wasted cash on a cracked one.
My drivers seat was way bent and broke, leaning to the inside. I took the cover and padding off, removed the back section, bent it back with a press and a 2X4, welded it, works great and cost was nothing! As far as holding, the weld will be stronger than the metal.
