Default 94 Vert - Drivers Seat Problem.

Hey all,

94 Vert, sitting for a while. Window in back has leak and lots of water sat for a while inside car. Caused many problems. One of which is:

Trying to replace the carpet and need to remove drivers seat. Front bolts came out no problem. Rear bolts are a problem because when the top leaked, lots of little rust happened, and now the drivers seat won't move forward. It tries, but doesn't move. Sprayed with Wd40, tried working it, nothing.

There is a 6 point star bolt on the outside of the mechanism. If I unscrew that, will it move the seat forward, or mess something up? How else am I supposed to move the seat forward to get to the rear bolts????

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Jay

use some pb blaster on it.

pb blaster is basically wd-40 on steroids.

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think that helps. It won't move at all, if it moved a weeee little bit, i would think wd or something would help loosen it, but it doesn't move at all.

Any other suggestions?

wow, sounds like a crap situation. can you get a a socket / driver (15mm I believe) under there? If you can do that, try putting a something with a longer handle. kinda like a torque wrench? i had similar problem but the seat had gotten stuck forward and i used a tire iron for leverage.

try leaving the wd40 sittin on the bolts inside and on the bottom of the car for a while before, a day maybe? the bolts on mine went all the way through the floor so possibly visible underneath?

spray the bolts with PB blaster from the top and under the car. Let it soak for a hour and come back to it with a combo wrench. Put the boxed end on the bolt and get another boxed end wrench and put it on the end of the other wrench and use it like a extention(not the proper way to use wrenches but it works when in a bind). If all else fails get a drill and drill the bolt out from under the car. I would try the PB and wrench thing a few times thought.

Or better yet, get a set of gear wrenches which don't need near as much clearance as a ratchet and socket.
