Default Shelby Problems

On April 1st I traded my Black '06 GT for a new White '07 Shelby GT.I noticed that the hood pins holes were never painted by Shelby. I bought touch up from Ford and removed the hood pin plates to paint the bare metal. Too late! The paint under the plates already blistered. It blistered to the point that a small amout was out side the plate. The car has been at Ford for the last three weeks. They painted the entire hood and insalled new stripes. They were in the process of finding screws that will not cause future problems. I told them to go ahead with some aluminum screws to finish the job. They found that Shelby did not paint any of the holes they drilled for the hood scoop either. My next issue will be to find out if they installed the side scoops with 3m two way tape or if they drilled holes in the side of my car. This not an isolated problem. The dealership had another Shelby just like mine and the hood pin holes were never painted either. Shame on Shelby. Not everybody lives in the Las Vegas desert. I heard on another forum website that the '06 Shelby GT-H models are having rust problems because of this. Any owners of the Shelby GT's beware. Thanks, Kevio

you think that you would be getting a high quality product for the price you pay. Shame on Shelby for not catching the problem. Thanks for the heads up!

My Shelby sat on the lot for a long time before I bought it. I found the problem right after I got the car home. What gets me is the fact that Ford warranties their cars for five years against rust. They should have more control over the quality of the vehicles they sell.
