Default gt or shelby 500

im not much of a car guy but i recently decided to get a mustang. i know nothing about cars really and im bout to deploy to afghanistan next month and when i come back i want a newmustang. but what i really wanna know is the difference between a regular mustang a gt mustang and a shelby500 mustang. im guessing shelby is the better of the 3 but idk. i want one with the stripes and the cobra too lol. i dont know how to drive a stick but i will learn before i buy either of these if that helps any, thx

A regular GT has a 4.6 liter V8 which puts out something around 300 horsepower, I don't know the exact number but that's close. And the Shelby GT500 is a 5.4 liter SUPERCHARGED V8 which puts out 500 horsepower, hence the name GT500. The GT500 is way faster and looks a lot better in my opinion, since it has a completely different front as well as rear bumper. I also like all the stripes on the GT500s. If If I were choosing between the two, I would choose a GT500 in a heart beat. But I don't have that kind of money. But if you aren't really concerned about the price and you just want the coolest or fastest one, get a GT500. And someday it will be a collector car. If the GT500 is out of your price range, then just get the GT. I like the GTs way better than the V6. Who doesn't?!

i believe 260 is a more accurate number for the gt, and something around 300ft.lbs.
the cobra is a supercharged gt as far as i know but i'm still learning myself. i think that is more in the 300hp range

***-u-me-ing that he is talking about the 05 and newer mustangs, 300hp is correct for the gt. also, i was wandering past the dealership a couple months back and noticed a shelby GT, that looked to be different wheels, a couple stripes, a few extra ponys, and a price tag somewhere near 35k. maybe thats what he's thinking of.

get the GT500 if you can afford it...if you are new to the sports car world you may choose to get a regular GT just to "get used" to the power...then trade it in on a GT500 when you are comfortable with that much power...way too easy tohave something bad happen to you with that much power at your disposal, especially if you dont respect it
