I got a 8.8 rearend for my 83 GT with the 7.5 rearend and theres 2 brackets on the end of the 8.8 what are the brackets for

 

all the way on the end not to far from the drums. they are for axle dampeners AKA quad shocks they controle weel hop or at least try to . It is 100% safe to not install them cause your car does not have the bracket on the body to hook them up . When weel hop becomes a prolbem a good aftermarket upper and lower controle arm will solve the prolbem . and if you go for bigger tires in the back the bracket on the rear for them will hafto be cut off .
