Default A new intake manifold? What does it do?

Hey guys,

I have a 2002 3.8L Mustang.

I wanted to know what exactly I will accomplish by swapping out my stock upper intake manifold for a ported upper intake manifold with any or some of the following options:

Short runners fully ported and polished
- Long, high velocity runners ported as far as possible
- Available modifications- matching throttle body inlet to 65mm or 70mm, bolt post removal, divet filling and opening crossover for added flow. Please include your 70mm throttle body for accurate matching.
- Please ask for 99-00 vs 01-04 availability

The service is offered through Redlined Performance Mustangs. It says a new manifold will allow my engine to breathe easier, but how much horsepower and will I suffer with gas mileage?

Thanks!

Trey

well if your running stock heads, not a whole lot but every bit counts, especially when its a v6. the more mods you have, the more hp a new manifold will help. gas milliage wont really be affected unless your on the gas all day long but that is also true for car that is stock. after tons of mods, i get better milliage now then i did when i bought the car bone stock

Depending on how restrictive the stock manifold is.....anywhere from 10-20 hp possibly. Even with the stock heads reducing any restriction will always help performance. Gas mileage won't be affected except that the car should have better throttle response so you may find your foot being down more and then it will use more gas.
