Help with anti-siphon fuel filler

Default Help with anti-siphon fuel filler
My fuel filler gasket was leaking so I removed the filler neck so I can replace the gasket in the mourning when the dealer opens. My problem is when I pulled it out the anti-siphon thing on the end broke off. thank god I was able to fish it out because it stuck in the gasket and didnt fall in the tank. My question is do I have to have it or can I just put the filler neck back in as is.

Mine broke off to. I did not have a problem with it leaking.
