Transmission hard to shift into gear
I purchased a 98 Cobra with about 63k on the transmission. It has a short throw shifter (unknown brand at this time) and a Centerforce Clutch. The rear gear is 4:10. It seems when I shift from a stop, it is very hard to put it in gear. Just some of the time though. I've had 2 other cobras, and many 5 spds, but I've never had this issue. Could old fluid that has lost its viscosity cause hard shifting. Or perhaps it doesn't have enough fluid in it period. Oh, and reverse is super sensitive. You have to hold it tight to keep it from popping out of gear. Any ideas.
I'm not to concerned because, I'm planning to put a 03-04 cobra 6 speed in it, but I would like this to last a while so I can enjoy the newness of having a Cobra again!!
Thanks in advance

recheck the stops on the shifter, might not go into gear all the way.. I have an 88 5 spd, i need to adjust the cable some so it would disengage the clutch all the way. I am not sure on a 98 if that is a manual clutch or hydralic, if it is manual get an adjustable clutch quadrant.. hope that helps
