Default speedometer recalibration

I am tring to recalibrate my speedometer. I know there are shops that can do it but I would like to do it myself. Does any one know how to do this or what mechinery is needed for this work. I thought if I could recalibrate it and use a white face gauge for the numbers. I have heard of there being a new stock 140 replacment face for these but I cannot fimd those either. By the way this is for a 84-86 Mustang. Thanks in advanced.

what your going to need is a speedo gear. it sits in the back of the trans and is held in by one bolt. the only tools you should need is a pair of pliers and a wrench.

So it isn't reading accurately? Or it is, but you want to recalibrate it for a 140mph guage? & what is the gearing in the rearend?

This has nothing to do with the rear end gears or the tranny speedo gear. I am trying to take an 85mph speedometer and make it a 140 mph speedo. I know this is possible but I have no idea how.
