Removing brake booster????
The car is/ was a '98 V6........ I think the brake booster is bad in it, but for one dont really know how to test it and two how to romove it. As many times as I have bled these brakes and the pedal still just seems to go right to the floor makes me think the booster is bad.
Here is what it does......
I can pump the brakes with key off and they get tight. then hold them and start the car and they sink down to the floor.
If I pull it in gear and just let it pull me at an idle , it takes me about 5 feet to stop with the brakes all the way to the floor. It has brakes, but very little.
I followed all the right bleeding procedures and all the air was out of the lines. I noticed after when someone was pumping the brakes, it seemed like there was air being forced into the resivour on the master cylinder.......
Anyone have any clue?????
As far as removing it, the unbolting the 4 bolts and the electrical and removing the rod from the pedal is no problem. The problem lies with the clearance issue of the length of the studs versus the room between the booster and the shock tower. How in the heck they ever got it in there is a mystery to me. Any tips on getting it out without cutting the studs off the back??
