Default 2005 GT check engine after intake install

I installed a MAC straight shot intake system on my 2005 Mustang GT and the check engine light came on. I cleaned the oil out of the filter, cleaned the MAF, reset the light and 2-4 drive cycles later the light came back on. I had the intake on the car for approx 200 miles when it was new and the check engine light came on, so I took it off and the dealer replaced the MAF sensor due to oil contamination, and it hasnt had a problem until the intake was put back on. Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions? Thanks.

I had a problem similar to this when i installed my K&N intake on my 05 GT. So i suggest checking for air leaks and then taking the Mass air sensor and cleaning it. Then making sure when you put it back on that it's tight. Those are the problems i had with mine and after i fixed those it ran great. I hope this can help. Good luck

I haven't gone and pulled the CEL code recently, but the last time I had the same problem, the dealership told me it was a MAF code. They replaced the MAF, and I put the stock intake back on so I wouldn't run into more trouble.

This most recent time, I made sure to clean the filter free of oil, double-checked all connections, and even cleaned the MAF and recet the ECU after I got the second CEL.

Do you think I just need to reset again?? I haven't pulled the CEL code this time, but I'm under suspicion that it's going to be the same code..<shrugs>

Do you have it tuned for the intake? If not you probably are running lean.

When you installed your intake did you make sure to disconnect the negative from the battery?

yeah, im with blacks197. i have always heard that on the 4.6 in the s197's that you need a tune with the intake or it wont run right.

with any modern car, most require tuning, even if you just slap on a Cold Air Intake
