To Space or not to Space...
Hey,
I just got a 99 Stang a 3.8, Auto, that is dead stock except for a drop-in K&N filter. I am interested in installing a PowerAid Throttle Body Spacer or like.....
a. What are the pro's and con's to the upgrade..?
b. What brand is the best..?
Thanks

Hi:
Throttle Body Spacers rate way up there on the scam list. Their HP gains are ficticious. The most expensive, Steeda. will tell you that, even at $100. they are for cosmetic purposes only. Although they are beautifully machined, with vortex grooves machinedin the ports. you will not see a HP gain. Save your money and buy a tuner, you will get a 15 to 20 gain, some say higher. Also, now that you are moving more air into your engine, you should retune to adjust air fuel movement; a few minutes with a tuner.
Best/ Bill

You'd get just as much power by picking up a rock in the parking lot and putting it in your cupholder. On a V6 that goes for the spacer AND upgrading the TB itself.
Start with a good catback exhuast... then go from there.
