Default Door Hinge Problem

Hello all, 97 v6 here.

I've been trying to figure out whats making an awful clunking noise on my car down thats causing it to sag. This happens so badly that the bottom of my driver door is actually grinding paint off my car because the two spots are not connecting when my door opens and sags.

I got someone to lift my door a little that it could, when opened (opposed to having it sag). I noticed the give is on the bottom hinge, with the little roller thing in it. Something in that little device must be lose...but im not sure what...

Anyone ever have a similar issue? How should I go about resolving this? I tried tightening the bolts on the door and that didnt help.

Door hinge(s)/bushings are shot. Lift the door as you watch the hinges from the inside. Youll notice that one or both will wiggle as the door moves. That means its bad. Its about $100 for the both of them from ford. One is cheap 20-30 bucks and the other one is 70 something. You dont have to but its a good idea to replace the striker as well. Cheaper option - buy part number DA658 off of matcotools.com and using it lift up on the door with quite a bit of force and repeat until it works then change the striker if youd like. Takes 5 minutes if that for the latter process, its the same method we use at work (ford body shop) for people that want a quick cheap fix, I have done it with mine as well, 01 gt and the bottom hinge/bushings are bad

That second method you mentioned that you use sounds good. How exactly does this tool work in that it doesnt require new hinges? Or am i mistaken..
