Simple question..

Can I order 31 spline spider gears and replace my 28's?

It'd be a cheap way to have a 31 spline diff if it'd work. I'd then order me up some 31 spline mosers...

I think the 31 spline side gears are way to big for the 28 pline carrier. I have both carriers at work and ill ck it out for you. I was thinking the same thing. Maybe ill try to see if the whole carrier will fit the mustang rear axle.

Yes, you can change out your 28s for 31s in a 9" but the 9 3/8 are all different...

I installed 31 spline ford side gears in a 8.8 28 spline carrier and they did fit the carrier but the pinion gears would not go on. I measured the inside of both carriers and the 31 spline is wider where the side gears and pinions go on. the 31 spline carrier seems to be the same width and the 28 spline. maybe install the whole carrier and the 31 spline axles.
