Gears and fluid

Gears and fluid
What is the exact fluid I would need for when I have my rear end gears changed? 80w 90, 85w 140? Full synthetic or partial blend? Can this be purchased at a local auto parts store?
Also, do I need a friction modifier or is that included in the gear installation kit from mustangtuning.com?
One last thing. My 4.10's arrived the other day, and they're covered with tiny pieces of broken styrofoam from the packaging they were shipped in. I tried vacuuming them off, but they stick pretty well to the gear lubricant. Any suggestions for getting these cleaned up prior to installation?
