Intermittent Starting
Hey everyone, i'm new to this site and the hobbie and I could really use some input. I bought a 93 cobra 5.0 a few months ago and a week or 2 later, it would not start. The engine was turning over just fine but would not start up. It had been running fine prior to that and the previous owner said he never had any starting problems, so the next day a friend and I went out to troubleshoot and it started right up and I drove it home. Ran fine until about a week later when the same thing happened, cranked but would not start. The engine also died on me a few times just out of the parking lot then started right back up. Finally it died for good (or so I thought). It would not start for about a week during which I fiddled around with the spark plug wires, fuel lines, distributor, etc. and it still wouldn't start so i decided to take it in to the shop. Rented a dolly just to find out that the car was too low for it and as frustrated as I was, tried to start it one more time and she fired right up. Idled fine but died out a few times. Started right back up but I had to keep the rpm's up a bit to keep it running and drove it to the shop. It stayed in the shop for a week and they said that they could not get it to NOT start. Picked it up from the shop and drove it back to base just fine until the engine cut out on me right outside of the parking lot. Barely got it started again and made it back.
I deployed a few days later and i'm in iraq now so I can't do anything about it but any help from you guys will give me some piece of mind. Thanks.
Here's what I got as far as I know that may help:
-Battery relocation kit to the trunk
-Vortech supercharger
-MSD distributor
-30lb fuel injectors
-Rebuilt 302 w/ <1000 miles

Don't hold me to this, BUT I had a 93 altima that seemed to have the same symptoms. But with the altima it was 1 of the 3!! Starter going bad, Battery out of juice and/or the alternator was sh1tting the bed! as for the stangs im not to sure! but i know in the alty i had replaced the starter about 5 times before i got rid of it due to having wiring issues!
juse my piece of usless advice! :/
