Default Is it the brakes?

When I'm braking I get a pulse in the pedal and a vibration in the steering wheel. I have heard it could be a warped rotor or possibly a tie rod end. Is there a way to tell which it is without replacing them? When I am driving I don't have any vibrations at all, it is strictly under braking. Thanks in advance.

very simple to determine, take a dial indicator and measure the brake rotor run out. Based on your description of the problem Im pretty sure its your front rotors, you would have 2 options, the first is to replace them, the second if there is enough material remaining you could have then machined and reinstalled

Its one or both of the rotors. Replace or turn both at the same time of course. A dial indicator is best...if you have one. Sometimes you get lucky and can tell by looking at the rotor head-on as it spins, or you can hear faint rubbing in some spots as it rubs the pad. Sometimes.

yeah turn your rotors and get new pads. Easy inexpensive job.

thanks for the input everyone I really appreciate it. I think I will just use this as an excuse to upgrade the brakes now :-) Thanks again
