Default Mounting a GPS?

I've got a Magellan GPS system that has the Suction cup style of mounting-- only problem is it's illegal for me (in MN) to mount anything on my windshield as far as I know.

How else/where else can I mount this??? I've been using it in my cupholder lol...

I was thinking about using double-sided 3M tape and somehow mounting it on the passenger side above the glove compartment (that black area). The problem with this method of mounting it is that the charger cord and
another cord plug into it and they stick out roughly 1/4th of an inch behind the unit+a unit holder.

Anyone have any solutions to this? Where can I/should I mount this at, and do they make a special thing for mounting these somewhere else other than the Windshield??

HELP!!

Also I'm driving a 2007 Mustang.

I've got a Garmin GPS I use all the time in the car.. I just leave it in a cupholder too

Your state doesn't allow attaching stuff to the windshield? Thats nuts

A lot of them come with the mounts for the heater vents but of course those are useless for the newer Mustangs and there retro vents

When you say your not allowed to stick it to your window are you allowed to mount it onto of the dash or is it anything that obstructs your view is considered illegal? Because you could just make yourself a mount that sticks to the dash above just above the two center heater vents.

Otherwise I'd look to wire it directly into the ignition system then see where you can run the power cable and the GPS receive units cable to, maybe you can bring them out the glove box and mount it where you suggested. Then make yourself a plate that gives you that extra 1/4" you need due to the plugs, mount that to the dash and the GPS to that.....

Ok, next question. I think I'm getting a push-button start (one that works with the key to. So dont start flaming me!!) How else can I charge my Navi other than the Power outlet in the car? Do they make conversion kits??

I believe that if you take it to Ford you can have them fit another ciggy adapter for you, I'm planning on calling my dealership tomorrow as I have 3 questions for them and this is going to be one of them as I was thinking of getting the push button start also.... if they can I plan on having them fit it in the passenger footwell.....
