i have a 94 GT manual. Whenever it is cold outside and before the car warms up it has a sputtering problem. ill pull away from a stop and as its accelerating it will hesitate and has a small popping sound a few times and then it picks up and accelerates smoothly. any idea what this could be? the car is overall stock, other than weld in muffs and a k&n filter.

well, my first question is when you are pulling away from the stop sign, is this when your car is still cold or is this at any stop? It sounds like you may have dropped a cylinder, but would need a bit more information. The other reason could be lack of fuel. Check to see if your fuel filter is due for replacment. Start up and acceleration is when the most fuel is called for, if it is unable to meet the demand you will get the stuttering.

its only when its cold. it will sputter and stuff if im just accelerating like normal. if i give it WOT then it will sputter and pop like once and then take off like normal. if i drive like 15 mins or something and the car warms up then it is fine. its mainly just when the car is cold.
