Modding questions
Do mods cause issues for the ECM controlled models? I know it did with the computer controlled camaro I have. I wound up taking the computer out and changing to carb. I'm selling it to get a 94 Mustang GT.
I am wondering what kinds of mods will mess with the Mustang's ECM and make reprogramming of the chip or purchase of a new chip necessary.
Thanks

with 5.0's, most of the mods you buy are fine and dont need a chip re-flashed, unless you get it tuned and then you go in with a hand held programmer, or a piggyback system or something to that effect and put in the new parameters, that way you get the most hp out of your combo as possible

RE: Modding questions
The programming of the stock computer is based on a 302cid motor that puts out 225hp and 300lb ft of torque. It does have some learning capability but once you get into heads, cams, and other things that really affect how much airflow and power the motor is capable of then its time for a tuner of some sort.

I got the car today. [sm=happybounce.gif] I spent a lot of the time cleaning and doing small maintenance items. I like the placement of the distributor as opposed to where it is in my GM...so easy to reach. This car is awesome. I'm so damn glad I got one finally.
That sounds good about the simpler mods not messing with the ECM. I don't plan on messing with it too much. I did too much of that crap with my Z. I'm just going to enjoy it. Thanks for the replies.
