Default Remote Start

I'd like a remote start on my 2007 Mustang... It is an automatic.

Not going for the "cool" factor as much as I don't want to walk out in the freaking cold to get the car de-iced and warmed up before I go to work in the mornings.

I've heard mixed things on them, thought you all could shed some light.

1) I heard you have to keep the key near the ignition for it to work, because of the chip. True? Any workarounds? At that point a thief could just smash the window and run away with it.

2) Also heard you MUST use the remote to start from then on. Is that true? If the battery dies, I'd want to start it like usual too.

3) Some remote start systems require a lighter outlet? Why? And anyway around that?

4) I don't want to carry around 2 key fobs... Is there something I can get that will put my lock/unlock/trunk/start all in one fob?

Thanks!

Ok to make this clear I'm not 100% sure on this at all.

However I have heard that the Remote Starts can be a pain in the butt to install.
1) I dont think if your key is near the ignition it will change anything otherwise we would have push-start buttons in our cars! So I dont think thats true. (Like I said I'm not 100% sure though!)

2) Do you mean to start it? Noooo! That can't be right. My mom bought me one of these a year or so back ( I returned it because I didn't want to deal with installation and wasting gas while idling my car lol). I doubt you'd have to use it every time lol. If so then I would buy a higher quality item.

3) Not sure. If so I would just buy a better one because that seems like a waste.

4) I dont think there is anything you can get? If so it would be expensive.

1) there is a PATS bypass module that you use to bypass the factory security key interlock

2) not according to the research I did for my '02 GT

3) not sure about that one

4) You should get a remote start system that includes keyless entry and security. The fob that comes with the remote start then REPLACES the factory fob completely
