hey if you accidently let them wires touch each other before being taped off when you bumped it with your knee then i would guess you SmOkEd the radio....

dont let any other wires touch bare wires..EVER!

the only way to test it now is a volt meter.
do you have one?
my educated guess would be that you let wires touch each other. i just dealt with this and billy_dumba$$ and his stupid neon lights he installed under his dash. he let wires touch and he smoked a bunch of fuses in his fusebox.
do you have any black tape? (electrical black tape?)

 

I've installed radios before that worked for awhile then quit. What it was: sometimes the inline fuse holders are crap. The spring in it was too strong and the plastic tabs were weak so it popped apart a little. You take it apart to check the fuse, which is fine, then put it back thinking its ok, but its really losing contact after some time. I put it together tight and taped it up, no more problems. Something to check anyway.

 

no the last radio i had i think i screwed up but this one is brand new...just got it back from the place...so i put it in and there is no power coming to the radio so i'm going to check out the fuse box one more time and get the volt meter and check the wires coming to the radio...also will try to hook the radio up the battery to check it out

You can test it on a battery charger if you got one.Just hook the red and yellow wire to the positive on the battery charger and the black to black and if it works it works.As far as the voltage meter I have never needed that to test any radios you also dont have to worry about hooking up the orange to test it cause thats just for the memory

not yet...just home from work...lol..time to eat and then work on it...

 

ok well just went and checked everything out and guess what the radio i just got is ****ing busted...check it...i'm getting 12 volts to the cd player and it isn't doing anything...i mean it wants to turn on but its not...i mean some times you can see some faint stuff coming on sometimes but it isn't enought to even see it really good...i mean am i don't something wrong...i don't get it...i mean if i am someone tell me...because i'm putting the right amount of power out i believe and then the cd player just doesn't work..and its not the first time...i knwo the car can use a cd palyer because i had this one before but it broke on me too...so well i'm sending it back on monday...don't ever buy something from a second rate store that doesn't have a good rep...ok i kow..i shouldn't have done it but hey i figured i was getting a deal so i bought it...now it doesn't work..so **** this...i'm getting my money back
