Exclamation No Headlights on 2000

While driving home on the highway tonight I didn't notice my headlights were out. Since here in New York City all the streets are illuminated with lights, I didn't notice that my headlights were not working. When I got home all I seen illuminated on the fence were the parking lights. While I was on the highway however I got a nasty burning scent, and played around with the heat. It didn't have any bad smell, so I thought it was the toasted bagel I just bought. My headlights don't give off much light to begin with, and now none at all. Can it be that my fuse blew? And if so, how would I fix it?

If they were dim before, Id say you have dead bulbs

It sounds to me that it would be a short in the system if they were dim they could had been grounding out somewhere. And if you smelt a burnt smell to me that would be wire coating melting away which usually doesnt smell that bad. But check the obvious first like the fuses and bulbs.

Well it would be ironic for both to go out at the same time. When I say the headlights didn't give off much light, they weren't dim, they were just not powerful. They're lights from americanmuscle.com, Luminics bulbs. On the other hand I tried different bulbs with no such luck. Plus, I have fog lights hooked up to go on when the headlights go on, and they aren't turning on when I put the lights on. I'm guessing there is a short, but I have no clue with electrical problems.

Did you link the fog lights power with the head lights power?
That'd be a good fuse blower.

Check the fuses!

In the instrument panel fuse box the Lights fuse will be at positions: 4, 10, & 38. With 10, 10, and 20 Amp fuses accordingly...

In the engine compartment fuse box the Lights fuse will be a 30 Amp(the lid to the fuse box shows you a diagram on the underside.)

Since both lights are out, my money is on the fuse located in the engine compartment since it relays both lights.
