Default Window tinting

I remember seeing a post a couple years back about tinting the windows and applying some sort of cloth, felt, velvet, or whatever, to the inside of the window seal so that the tint does not become scratched. I can tell now that my window does indeed get scratched a ton and I was wondering if anyone knew what to apply to the seal and where to get it so when I do tint the windows it will not be ruined. Thanks for any feedback.
