Heater problem - 94 Vert, v6
Hey all,
Another problem for you experts.
Have a 94 vert that was sitting for a few years under a tarp that leaked. There is a lot of surface rust under dash here and there that may be a factor.
Problem #1:
Heater comes on, hot, no problem, but it doesn't come out very hard. The switch does work, as in on low it almost doesn't come out at all, and progressively does come out faster until it goes to high, which has about the force of a normal heater on maybe low or the second setting. No matter if I put it on defroster, floor or vent, it doesn't come out very hard. On mix, it almost doesn't come out at all!!!!
I pulled out the fan and started it while it was not in its place and it turns VERY fast, and would seem to be blowing just fine.
I would think it's one of the following:
- Intake is clogged??? kind of like putting a pillow on the back of a fan, no air in, no air out.
- The doors that open and close depending on vent or defroster etc are rusted partially closed?
- the vacuum that controls the doors opening or closing isn't working very well?
What do you think?
Second Problem:
When the fan is on high, I get a vibration. So much I can actually feel when my foot is on the brake and gas pedal.
??? blowing too hard and no where for the air to go, so it vibrates???
Thanks in advance.
Jay

It sounds like there might be a rodent nest in the squirrel cage fan making it out of balance. That would cause a massive vibration and also restrict air flow. sometimes it Happens when a car sits for a while.
