Default 100 octane?

One of my buddies has been wanting to put 100 octane on his car. His car is mostly stock. I kinda doubt it would run any better if that. Any thoughts?

it will do nothing for performance on a stock engine. you only need higher octane if you are running higher compression than stock, have your timing advanced, of are running forced induction.

He'll lose power. High octane is VERY slow burning. You want the lowest octane you can get without detonation.

he needs to be careful to not put to high of octane in his car, as it will knock out the 02 sensors....
