Default No power to coil?

Hello. My fiance' has an 88 2.3. Yesterday it died on her at a light. I went and tried to get it started to no avail. I discovered there was no spark. At first I figured the coil went but I took a test light to the plug and found no power was going to the coil. I jumped a wire from the battery to the coil with a fuse just to get it home. Any ideas why I am not getting power to the coil? Maybe the ignition switch went? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.
