hi im new to the site and was wondering if anyone could answer this why wont the lighter in my 1992 ford mustang work any ideas ?

 

You could replace the lighter with a new one and if that doesnt work then its a fuse or the heating element is shot and you have to replace the whole unit.

 

my buddy has the same car and it did the same thing i checked the fuse it wont even work with like a cell phone charger for my car

 

If its not a blown fuse, you have to replace the whole unit.

If you have a test light, insert the red into the center of the lighter receptacle and the black end on the out side of the receptacle, with the key on, to see if you have power. Make sure the wires going to the receptacle have power first. If your test light shows nothing then you'll need a new receptacle.
